So Blessed - Scrapbooker's Paradise Sketch Challenge

A little while ago I posted a Thanksgiving layout I did using the CS July sketch and I wanted to do a second page using some more pics using this month's sketch from Scrapbooker's Paradise.

I sponged some Distress Ink around the edge of a piece of Kraft cardstock and used the Apple Cider collection from Imaginisce that I won a couple years ago.  It is such a cute collection - stickers, rub-ons, paper! The paper is a 6x6 paper pack; I cut the strips across the bottom and placed them on each side of the picture, making it look like a longer piece.  I placed the rub-ons on the bottom right side of the page and the stickers on the diamond shapes on the right.  Love the little racoon!

Well, I'm quite proud of myself getting last Thanksgiving's layouts done before this one! (just don't look in my stack of other pics waiting to get scrapped, lol!)

Glasses - August sketch challenge from Canadian Scrapbooker

I'm so excited that the fall issue of Canadian Scrapbook Magazine is out!! I am really enjoying summer, but I just can't help getting excited about fall: crisp days, pumpkins, fall leaves, thanksgiving... Ok, enough already! It was super hot here today, and we haven't had a very long summer here in Calgary, so I'm going to live in the moment :)

For the August sketch at Canadian Scrapbooker I chose a summer pic of my two little girls sporting their glasses.  My 18 month old at the time called them her "Gas-e" and had to have a pair, just like big sis.

I used the Tim Holtz viewmaster die cut (which I LOVE!) and a Recollection paper pack from Michaels, which, incidentally, is the same paper as the Simple Stories Fabulous collection. I used some Distress Ink around my paper edges and the new Tim Holtz Distress Paint daubers in pink, blue and bronze.

As always, lovin' the sketch put out by Sue Sykes for CS and all the wonderful inspiration on their website! PS: If you want to play along you can also upload your sketch to Sue's blog for a chance to win!

Sweet Life and Simon Says Challenge!

I recently joined a card swap with Lefty Productions and this month we are doing a mixed media "Sweet" theme. I used a mason jar stamp on vellum and layered it over a piece of white cardstock, which I had attached mini candies to. The small candies are a free digi stamp from My Grafico. I printed them out and coloured them with Prismacolor markers, and after cutting them out I popped some up with foam tape. I used silver embossing powder on the lid of the jar by masking the stamp and a crystal embossing powder to stamp "Sweet Treats" on the jar itself.

I found some cool vintage candy paper by Tim Holtz for the bottom of the card and printed out the larger candies (another freebie from My Grafico), coloured them with markers again, and used Peachy Kean faces on them. The viewmaster die cut is by Tim Holtz - I just realized those dies fit in my Cuttlebug!! Simon Says Monday Challenge blog is having a die cut challenge this week, so I had to enter it - I would totally pick up the new Tim Holtz stencils if I won :-). I really love this die cut. I still have vintage viewmaster reels that I got when I was a kid! I cut the reel out on white cardstock and sprayed it with pink and orange Dylusions sprays. After placing it on the striped cardstock I coated the openings with Zig 2 way glue and after it dried applied a foil film.

This card is way more detailed than I would usually do, but I had so much fun with it! I hope my friends love it as much as I do :)
